Peter Botsman Award 2005
Rachael Christopherson
Rachael Christopherson has worked mostly in the Catholic sector as an Art and English teacher. Her subject areas have proved to be complementary – especially with the focus on visual literacy in more recent years. Rachael has shared her expertise in visual literacy in publications and presentations to other teachers at regional, state and national conferences. Her workshops have always been thorough and full of ideas, easy to transfer into any classroom because of the thought that has been given to scaffolding the learning.
Her Head of English and nominee, Irene Wheatley attests to her enthusiasm in the classroom and her innovative approach to teaching subject English. She applies herself with great energy to developing units that will engage the students and extend their knowledge and understanding of English. Rachael’s enthusiasm has also been in evidence in her role as President of the Darling Downs’ Branch of ETAQ where she has convened many seminars and the 2004 state conference run in Toowoomba. Under her guardianship, the Darling Downs’ Branch has continued to grow and has become a centre of professional development.
